WOMEN'S RIGHTS
Feminism
For years and years men and women have never had equal rights. Whether it's politically, socially, or economically they have never been viewed as equals towards men. Although through out the years Women's rights have come a long way there is still much to be done about it. I believe women should be treated as equals towards men because they work just as hard and are human beings just like men.
Personal
I am a feminist because I believe women should be treated as equals towards men. I would like to consider myself a hard worker and truly can't imagine a man being paid more than me if I worked just as hard as them. Even when I was younger I played soccer and I was just as fast and aggressive as the boys. I was just as smart and work just as hard as them in my work force. Growing up I didn't know much about women's rights and wasn't educated on how women were looked superiorly towards men. As I grew up and learned how women were treated compared to men and I realized how wrong it was and believed women are just as smart and good and deserve the same right's as men.
Research
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 makes discrimination in compensation for employment illegal. In every state in the U.S. men have higher wages than women. California, New York and Florida are the states that have the least wage gap compared to men. White women and Asians earn the most in the U.S. while Black and Hispanic women earn the least compared to a white male. As time passes in the careers of men and women, women seem to decrease in pay after their 30s while men seem to increase in pay after their 30s. Women have also been fired from their jobs because of breast feeding at work or being pregnant. Some companies don't want to hire a pregnant women because they think she's not capable of doing what every one else can because of their pregnancy. Or they disagree with breast feeding in the workplace because they think it's inappropriate and have a mentality that women are suppose to be at home taking care of the kids instead of having a job. Some of the highest paying jobs in the U.S. like Corporate business, Surgeons, and Engineers are all male dominating industries.
This is Sophia who became very passionate about Women's Rights after finding finding out her
male co worker had a higher wage than her when she felt like she worked just as hard as him.
This is Hailey who has dreams of becoming a female police officer which is a male
dominating industry. She hopes to be treated just as equally as the males and be an inspiration for
other women who hope to be a police officer.
This is Nadia who stands for Women's Rights. She is a very hard work worker and believes
women should be treated as equals to men.
