Police Brutality
The social issue I wanted to address is Police Brutality because it is a huge problem happening locally and globally. Being able to forcefully harm someone should never be okay no matter what the circumstances may be.
There are guilty police officers getting away with crime due to their title and it is unfair to those who are harmed when police are supposedly around "to serve and protect"
I plan on bringing awareness to the situation because there have been many cases of police brutality even in my area.
I believe that issues like this shouldn't be occurring too often because it is injustice to the people being harmed.
Personal
In 2015 police in Kern County killed more people than any other county in America with one of the smaller populations on all charts.
Not only are people being killed but officers are beating people and being accused of sexual crimes as well.
There is one officer who was involved in "at least four fatal shootings in two years" additionally, none of those victims were armed.
In ten years, from 2005 to 2015, there were 79 police killings in Bakersfield.
